Chinese automakers show off 'smartphones on wheels' with artificial intelligence

BEIJING – XPeng, Geely and other Chinese automakers are showing off innovative new models at the Beijing International Auto Show as the competition in China shifts from electric cars to AI with cars that are starting to resemble smartphones on wheels.

“The next 10 years will be the decade of intelligence,” He Xiaopeng, CEO of electric car startup XPeng, said at a press conference on Thursday, the fair's opening day. He hinted at an impending software battle in the industry.
