The Sindh and federal governments have agreed to set up committees at the provincial and district levels to address the issues of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and consumers.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Federal Minister for Power Owais Ahmad Khan Laghari in Islamabad. In the meeting, Shah raised the issue of unannounced power outages in Sindh, including Karachi.
He also expressed his displeasure with the performance of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco), which come under the federal power ministry.
The Chief Minister said that the poor people are afraid of load shedding and cannot be left at the mercy of Hescu and Sepco's incompetence.
At the meeting, the federal minister raised concerns about line losses and non-payment issues. Chief Minister Shah assured the federal minister that the provincial government was ready to extend all possible assistance to the federal government. Sindh Chief Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Power Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also attended the meeting.
