Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has expressed surprise at the ambivalence shown by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in its interactions with state institutions.
A press statement issued on Sunday quoted the Sindh Information Minister as saying that the ambivalence on the part of the PTI was quite evident. On the one hand, its leaders have threatened to occupy Islamabad and on the other, they have expressed willingness to engage in talks with state institutions, Memon said.
He mentioned that PTI’s current political strategy is full of contradictions as it supports a campaign to defame state institutions while inviting the authorities to debate with it.
The Information Minister pointed out that PTI’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister had bravely adopted a terrorist-like threatening behavior while warning of an invasion of Islamabad. “The threat of occupying Islamabad indicates that PTI’s CM’s aspirations are in line with those of any terrorist,” he noted.
Memon regretted that PTI’s menacing attitude was earlier confined to the virtual realm of social media but has now materialized in the real world through threats to intimidate the federal capital.
He noted that instead of starting discussions, the PTI tried to negotiate with the establishment, but the state institutions were unwilling to accede to its demand. The information minister pointed out that the PTI severely lacks unity due to internal conflicts, with each faction within its ranks having a different perspective.
“But there is a unanimous desire to negotiate among all PTI factions. Those who had earlier engaged in a smear campaign against state institutions now have no moral reason to suggest opening talks with the same agencies,” he said.
