Pak-Afghan highway blocked to protest power cuts

JAMRUD: Kukikhel tribals on Monday protested towards load shedding and curtailment of electrical energy by blocking Pak-Afghan freeway in entrance of Jamrud substation.

Electrical energy drawback prompted Elder Kukikhel to convene a jirga in Jamrud tehsil. Led by native elders together with Malik Naseer Ahmad, Malik Salahuddin and Abdul Manan, amongst others, the leaders engaged in discussions with the Tribal Electrical Provide Firm (Tesco) and district administration officers.

Preliminary talks didn’t yield outcomes, main the natives to arrange a protest camp, blocking the Pak-Afghan freeway. They demanded no less than 4 to six hours of electrical energy provide and vowed to proceed their protest till their calls for are met.

After negotiations between administration, Tesco officers and elders of the Kukikhel tribe, an settlement was reached. Tesco agreed to return to the previous timetable and supply 4 hours of electrical energy, which ended the protest.
