Nidec faces market pressure as founder tears up 'unfair' EV war in China

TOKYO — Cutthroat competition in China's electric vehicle sector has cast a shadow over profits at suppliers such as Japanese engine maker Nidec, which is grappling with shrinking margins in a key market.

China's electric car market is “unfair” and creates “unhealthy competition,” Shigenobu Nagamori, the automaker's founder and executive chairman, said at an earnings briefing on Wednesday.
