Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) celebrated its 27th convocation where students were awarded one PhD, 1,117 Bachelors and 60 Masters degrees.
The ceremony also included the awarding of students with gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates of merit for exceptional academic results.
In his speech, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori lauded SSUET as an ideological academic institute and highlighted its significant role in national development and its contribution in producing skilled manpower for the global arena. He emphasized the role of the university as a catalyst for social change and progress.
The governor further announced a plan to provide non-repayable loans ranging from Rs 100,000 to Rs 10 crore to youth with innovative business ideas to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. SSUET Chancellor Jawaid Anwar praised the performance of the institution and pointed out the continued enrollment of students even during the period of economic recession. He emphasized the importance of technology and entrepreneurship, saying that graduates are increasingly focused on new ideas and business ventures, contributing to economic growth and innovation.
Anwar highlighted the importance of digital technology in the 21st century and highlighted its transformative impact on societies. He observed a shift in student preferences towards software-based digital applications, reflecting changing trends in education and technology.
SSUET Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Vali Uddin, highlighted the growth of the university with 16 academic departments offering various programs to more than 7,000 students. He also highlighted the significant contribution of the faculty, with 64 members who hold doctorates, in providing quality educational and research opportunities to students.
