A new joint venture has been formed with the American company Sayar to produce alternative heating from medical waste in Uzbekistan. State medical facilities and other organizations will pay for heating at special tariffs.
Sayar Green was founded in Uzbekistan together with US-based Sayar to produce alternative heating from medical waste. President’s resolution of July 17.
The agreement was signed in April between the investor, the newly formed company and the government of Uzbekistan represented by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. The launch of the project is scheduled for August 1.
In the initial phase, in 2024-2025, the company needs to attract direct investment of USD 7 million. These funds will be used to process 6,000 tons of medical waste per year from medical facilities in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara regions and to install a facility with a capacity of 20 GWh per year.
During the second phase, from 2026 to 2030, the project aims to attract $108 million in direct investment. Waste processing capacity will increase to 90,000 tons in all regions of Uzbekistan, with the capacity of the facility reaching 300 GWh per year.
State medical facilities participating in the project will purchase heating at special tariffs. Other organizations will also be able to purchase heating.
According to the agreement, after the completion of the project, the purchased equipment will be donated to partner organizations.
