Another plane belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was seized in the Dominican Republic informs CNN.
It is a Dassault Falcon 2000 YV3360, similar to the aircraft seized by the US government on 2 September. It is also included in the list of sanctioned assets belonging to Maduro.
Both aircraft were sent to the Dominican Republic for maintenance in recent months. According to Diario Libre, the second plane is an improved version of the Falcon 2000. The cost of the ten-passenger plane is around 8-11 million dollars. The flight made by this aircraft was registered only once – it flew to Malta in September 2019.
The first plane belonging to the president of Venezuela, a Dassault Falcon 900EX, was seized in the Dominican Republic on September 2 and sent to Florida. According to the US Department of Justice, the plane was taken out of the country illegally. The plane was used during Maduro’s state visits. The Venezuelan government called the seized plane “piracy” and accused Washington of increasing aggression against Maduro’s government.
In July, Venezuela held presidential elections in which Maduro was re-elected. The U.S. did not recognize the election results — the State Department said it processed voters’ votes and that the results announced by the National Electoral Council were controlled by Nicolás Maduro.
