An 18-year-old man is suspected of the murder of former MP Irina Farionová.
The suspect in the murder of the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Farionova was arrested. This was said by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported.
It should be noted that the suspect is an 18-year-old man who was arrested in Dnipro. While preparing for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv. According to the investigation, only the executor can be arrested.
In the evening of July 19, an unknown person shot Irina Farionova in the head in Lviv. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced that the cameras were not working at the scene of the attempt on the life of Irina Farionova.
In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated under the article attempted murder, which was later changed to the category of intentional murder.
Farion was 60 years old and was a member of the Verkhovna Rada from 2012-2014. In 2015, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened criminal proceedings against him for incitement to murder, incitement to hatred and enmity.
In November 2023, criminal proceedings against Farion were opened in Ukraine. In one of his interviews, he stated that Russian-speaking soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be called Ukrainians. In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated on four counts, including the violation of equal rights of citizens on the basis of race, nationality, regional affiliation, as well as insulting the honor and dignity of a military soldier. He was then dismissed from his position as a professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, but was reinstated in May of this year.
