The European Union will start negotiations with Armenia on the introduction of a visa-free regime. He wrote that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, informed about this Reuters.
Mirzoyan called the upcoming negotiations “a very important stage in deepening the partnership between Armenia and the European Union based on common values and principles.”

Currently, the European Union has a visa-free regime with three countries that were part of the former USSR – Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have already joined the European Union. Armenia has recently been strengthening its relations with Western countries. This comes at a time of deteriorating relations with Russia – many in Yerevan believe that Moscow has failed to fulfill its alliance commitments to support Armenia in its conflict with Azerbaijan.
