Today, July 20, an extraordinary congress of the Party of Economic Reforms of Tajikistan (PERT) took place in Dushanbe. At the convention, the results of the party’s activities over the past five years were summed up and a new leader was elected.
Majlisi Namoyandagon MP Giyosiddin Ashurzoda was elected as PERT chairman. He is 48 years old, a native of Gissar, candidate of economic sciences.
As PERT leader, he replaced 64-year-old Rustam Kudratov, who had led the party since December 2019.

Kudratov will continue his party activities as vice-chairman of PERT. Mashrab Fayzullo, rector of RTSU, retained the post of first deputy leader of the party, Sarvinoz Majidova and Haydar Rakhmagzoda were appointed deputy heads of PERT.
Speaking to the audience, Kudratov noted that PERT has about 33,000 members.
PERT was founded in 2005. Until 2019, the party was led by Olim Boboev and from December 2019 by Rustam Kudratov. In the March 2020 parliamentary elections, PERT managed to win five parliamentary mandates. It became the third most representative party in the current composition of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, of which the ruling People’s Democratic Party has 47 parliamentary seats and the Agrarian Party 7. The Communist Party has 2 seats, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party one each. The Social Democratic Party failed to win a seat in parliament.
Giyosiddin Ashurzoda was born on May 3, 1976 in the Gissar region. In 1999, he graduated from the Trade Institute of Tajikistan in the field of international economic relations. Ashurzoda worked for many years at the Academy of Sciences and also taught at various universities in the republic.

Let us recall that on May 11, at the 18th extraordinary congress of the party, the leader of the Democratic Party of Tajikistan was also replaced: the 63-year-old MP Saidjafar Usmonzoda was replaced by the 34-year-old Shahboz Abror. he was elected.
Usmonzoda was removed as party chairman due to “unsatisfactory performance”. He did not attend the convention, but later statedthat the vote was against the party charter. He asked the Ministry of Justice for a legal review of the decision, saying he considered himself the legitimate leader of the party. Later the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan recognized the convention of the Democratic Party as legaland Shahboza Abrora – the new leader of the Democrats.
In June, Saidjafar Usmonzoda was arrested and charged with “forcible seizure of power”.
