Today is Defense and Martyrs Day
Meanwhile, Defense and Martyrs Day is being celebrated across the country with patriotic fervor and gusto to pay tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis and reaffirm the resolve to defend the motherland from all threats.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.
Special prayers were offered in the mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country and for the independence of India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the cruel clutches of India.
An elegantly mounted contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) presented a guard of honor and took over the ceremonial guard duties at the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah mausoleum in Karachi.
It was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed the international border in the dark of night to attack Pakistan, but the nation foiled the nefarious plans of the enemy.

It is a day of national unity and solidarity, when the nation triumphed over all adversaries while strictly adhering to the national motto of the Golden Quadrilateral Principles: Faith, Unity and Discipline.
The border areas in Lahore, Sialkot and Sindh were attacked by the enemy on 6 September 1965. The battle continued until a United Nations (UN)-administered ceasefire was accepted by both sides on 22 September 1965.
But during the action, our brave soldiers not only defended its territory, but also protected the lives and homes of thousands of civilians. The nation therefore pays tribute to all those national heroes who gave their lives in line with their duties.
On Defense Day, a number of events and military parades are held across the country, showcasing the latest technology in military warfare. It is a day to showcase military might and newly developed weapons while remembering national heroes.
It is also repeated on a day when the entire nation of Pakistan along with its armed forces will leave no stone unturned to protect the motherland. Pakistan and India fought a war over Kashmir in 1965, but the issue has even remained unresolved between the two countries.
