HONG KONG – Macau’s upcoming chief executive election will once again have just one candidate – this time Sam Hou-fai, the former president of the Supreme Court of Appeal – after the filing period for candidates in the Chinese territory closed on Thursday.
A candidate needs the nomination of at least 66 of the 400 members of the executive election committee, who are chosen from among representatives of various fields. Sam received support from 383, or almost 96% of members.
