GHAZNI CITY (Afghanistan): Some girls in Jaghori district of central Ghazni province have started a seven-day book exhibition to promote reading culture with the support of some cultural and educational foundations.
The purpose of the exhibition in the Angori bazaar area was to encourage girls to study.
Suhaila Javid, a writer and one of the organizers of the exhibition, said that the purpose of the exhibition is to promote the culture of reading books among the youth and girls deprived of education.
She said that with the support of some provincial cultural and educational institutions, she managed to organize this event.
“The culture of reading books is declining recently, we want all girls to buy different types of books and try to improve, we organized this exhibition so that girls can buy books at a low price and study them at home in their free time,” she said.
Nabilla Mohammadi, another cultural activist, said that this type of exhibition could help increase the youth’s interest in reading books.
Ustad Sultan Ali Ehsani, one of the visitors said, “Reading brings a positive change in a person’s life, there are various reasons why people stopped reading, women who are more deprived of education should try to achieve their dreams through reading books. .”
Mawlavi Muzamil, head of the Virtue Promotion and Vice Prevention Department, said women can participate in the book fair by demonstrating adherence to Islamic Sharia law and wearing the hijab.
