The US Secret Service has ordered some of President Joe Biden’s bodyguards to provide security for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. This happened after the assassination of the former president in July, The New York Times reported.

According to the newspaper, citing its source, such a division of part of the team is in itself an unusual event. But mounting threats against Trump and the curtailment of Biden’s travel schedule made it possible. The staff, which usually participates in the preparation of the head of state’s trips, is now busy protecting the Republican.
The White House and Trump’s campaign staff declined to comment on the situation.
On July 13, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot and killed former US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet hit the politician’s ear.
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned amid an investigation into the incident. Earlier, a hearing was held in the US House of Representatives regarding security breaches at the event where Trump was assassinated. Chitle took responsibility for failing to warn the former president of the assassination, calling it the Secret Service’s “most serious failure” in a decade.
