At least 30 people were killed, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.
The Israeli army (TsAHAL) launched an airstrike on a school building in the Gaza Strip, the BBC reported.
At least 30 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the attack, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry. Many women and children are said to be among the wounded and killed. The Gaza Civil Defense said the school was being used as a shelter for evacuees.
According to TsAHAL, Hamas terrorists used the school as their command and control center, where they planned attacks and stored weapons. Prior to the attack, it noted that “numerous measures” were taken to reduce damage to the civilian population, including aerial surveillance and additional reconnaissance.
According to Israel, Hamas terrorists routinely use hospitals, schools and other civilian buildings to house their command centers. More than 50 airstrikes have been carried out on such targets in recent weeks.
The IDF regularly bombards Gaza as part of military operations aimed at completely destroying Hamas and freeing hostages taken by terrorists during attacks on Israel.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 38,000 people have died as a result of Israeli military actions. There are no independent estimates of the number of victims of Israeli attacks in the region. The United Nations, the Red Cross and the human rights organization HRW believe that the Ministry of Health’s information is generally close to the truth.
