Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Commonwealth and readiness to play an active role in promoting intra-Community trade and advancing the Commonwealth’s sustainable development agenda.
He spoke to Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland in London today.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in spearheading the Commonwealth’s youth agenda, Ishaq Dar appreciated the Secretary-General’s support for the establishment of the Asian Youth Alliance Secretariat in Pakistan.
Scotland’s General Secretary recalled the warm hospitality she received during her first visit to Pakistan last month. She reaffirmed her desire to work closely with Pakistan to address climate change issues and empower Pakistan’s young population.
The two leaders also discussed their shared priorities ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa.
