KABUL (Afghanistan): Bangladesh’s former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud was arrested at Dhaka airport and handed over to the military, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The Civil Aviation Authority also detained two leaders of the former ruling party’s student wing from Dhaka University at the airport.
Following the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid, The Daily Star reported that former Minister of State for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was also detained at the airport.
The newspaper quoted unnamed airport officials as saying that the detainees had been handed over to the Bangladeshi army.
Former ministers of finance, sports, education, local government and the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation are said to have fled the country.
Besides, Munshiganj-3 legislator Mrinal Kanti Das and Supreme Court judge Md Badruzzaman also left the country.
