Former SL captain Mathews named in T20 World Cup squad

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka included veteran all-rounder Angel Mathews and uncapped bowler Dunith Wellalage of their 15-man World Cup 2020 squad, which will likely be captained by Wanindu Hasaranga, the nation’s choice committee on Thursday.

The 36-year-old Mathews, who lifted the trophy in 2014, will likely be making his sixth T20 World Cup look on the biennial, which will likely be co-hosted by two-time champions West Indies and the USA from June 1-29.

Mathews returned to Sri Lanka in January for T20s after a three-year hiatus.
