Washington may announce the allocation of another $125 million package of military aid to Ukraine, the Associated Press reported, citing sources.

According to them, the new tranche will include missiles for air defense systems, grenades for HIMARS MLRS, Javelin anti-tank systems, 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells and electronic warfare equipment.

The White House is expected to make an official announcement today, August 23, on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Aid is provided from Pentagon stocks and can be delivered faster than usual. A day earlier, the Pentagon’s deputy press secretary, Sabrina Singh, said that Washington’s policy allows Ukraine to launch counterattacks with American weapons so that Ukrainian armed forces can defend against Russian attacks in the Kursk region.

John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, said in an interview with MSNBC on August 15 that the United States plans to provide a military aid package to Ukraine in the coming weeks.

Earlier, the Politico newspaper, citing a number of unnamed US administration officials, said that the United States was open to the idea of transferring JASSM long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, although a final decision on the matter had not been made.
