TOKYO – US national security adviser Jake Sullivan met with Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, on Thursday and reaffirmed the importance of communication between the armed forces of rival powers.
At the end of a three-day visit to Beijing aimed at stabilizing frayed ties, Sullivan stressed that both countries have a responsibility, according to the White House, to prevent competition from turning into conflict or confrontation.
