LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister and Education Minister on Tuesday launched a ‘Life Saving Initiative’ for universities and colleges by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the occasion of World First Aid Week at World First Aid Day at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
Health and Emergency Services Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Rescue 1122 has launched a life saving program to train university and college students in life saving skills. The initiative aims to equip the youth with the ability to provide first aid in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest and accidents, thereby significantly increasing the chances of saving lives. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Minister of Emergency Services, Dr. Rizwan Naseer and the collaboration of the university in this important mission.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar expressed his pleasure to witness this historic event at Lahore College for Women University and ensured that this program will be extended to all universities and colleges in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Zia Ullah Shah appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and instructors. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rizwan Naseer said that the ‘Lifesavers Initiative’ on the occasion of World First Aid Week will be a historic initiative to motivate the youth of colleges and universities to become life savers by training them in basic life saving skills of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and bleeding. NMU approves modular integrated curriculum for MBBS
The 15th syndicate meeting of Nishtar Medical University was held at the Department of Specialized Health and Medical Education under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique.
Nishtar Medical University VC Prof Mahnaz Khakwani, KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mehmood Ayaz, Registrar, Higher Education Department Special Secretary Zahida Azhar, Prof Dr Asif Ali and officers of other departments participated as members of the syndicate through video conference.
The registrar of the university presented the agenda of the syndicate. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed the decision of the 14th session of Nishtar Medical University.
A modular integrated curriculum for MBBS classes was approved during the Syndicate meeting. In addition to approving all MD/MS programs, Nishtar Medical University has also approved the adoption and implementation of the HEC Anti-Plagiarism Policy.
The minister said that quality research is being encouraged in the medical universities of Punjab. The Nishtar Hospital Multan redevelopment project was to be completed on a priority basis.
