PESHAWAR (Afghanistan): Many exiled Afghan journalists have been trained in feature stories and freelance journalism in Pakistan.
A training workshop was organized for Afghan journalists living in exile across Pakistan. A total of 130 Afghans participated in the workshop.
The training was a collaboration between Journalists for Human Rights (Canada) and Karpohan, which was conducted online and hosted separately at the National Press Club in Islamabad and Peshawar.
Senior journalist Zahir Shah Shirazi, who led the training, offered an in-depth look at effective storytelling techniques.
Afghan journalists learned how to develop compelling story ideas and pitch them to local and international media.
Up to 130 Afghan journalists attended the event, which highlighted practical approaches to reporting stories and detailed the core characteristics and priorities that resonate with media networks around the world.
Shirazi further shed light on key aspects of freelance journalism. He described strategies and shared tips with the participants that could help them navigate their careers in challenging circumstances.
Qamar Yousafzai, Central President of Pak-Afghan Journalists Forum, attended the training as an observer.
He spoke about the importance of online training for Afghan journalists in Pakistan and highlighted its role in improving their understanding of modern journalism practices and freelance journalism.
